in lieu of a mirror, 1
mirrorless lavatory wall (partial view)
29 September 2016
There has never been a mirror in this lavatory; someone wrote PLACE MIRROR HERE above the sink. Desiring at least one mirror-free lavatory in the building, someone (myself) put a post-it above that directive, that added Please Don't to it. (Both original message, and my addendum, would shortly be replaced by something else, and better.)
And I began bringing in and pinning to the wall passages on mirrors that were appearing on blogs I watch (or follow) on tumblr. Eventually I moved them to a side wall, away from sink-splash. Some of those are shown above, partially transcribed and linked below.

Fernando Pessoa, The Book of Disquiet.
All sorts of things in this world behave like mirrors.
Jacques Lacan, Seminar II
The earth is like a mirror: calm meeting calm, detachment meeting detachment.
Louise Gluck, from Poems 1962-2012; "Harvest"
I'll be your mirror...
Nico, Velvet Underground
people can tolerate their images in mirror or photo, but they are made uncomfortable by the recorded sound of their own voices.
