This code has been ransacked for phrases and codewords; phrases relating to canal operations systematically removed.
Crossouts include these
Chuck | The demand is principally confined to the canal lines, and boatmen who are buying on vessel account to make freight. |
Oblique | Has the weather put a stop to canal navigation in your vicinity? |
Offscum | In consequence of the favorable winds prevailing, we look for a large fleet of vessels (known to be out) to arrive, and a corresponding advance in the price of canal freights. |
Oily | It is very cold, and snow falling fast, which must check, if not entirely close canal navigation. |
Ointing | Although very cold yesterday and last night, the weather is moderating to-day. |
Ointment | The cold weather of yesterday and to-day, has probably pretty effectually put a stop to canal navigation for the season. |
Only | The great depth of snow in this vicinity, has almost effectually blockaded the railroads, consequently we are without receipts, and nothing is being done in the way of shipments. |
Opal | We are having a fine run of sleighing at present, which must have the effect to add materially to our receipts. |
